TCP001

Lousie Mary Smith is a plus size alternative model & “body positive” activist from the UK.  She models for the bespoke clothing label Forever in Black (www.foreverinblack.com) under the name Alexandria Web.

Her journey into the body positive world came after a total stranger decided to photoshop an image of her to make her appear thinner.  The images can be seen on her tumblr page here.  In this episode, she talks about how she overcame such hate and disrespectful behavior and discusses how she was able to land a modeling gig with www.foreverinblack.com.

Plus Night Out 2015

Plus Night Out 2015

PNO

Hey everyone, if you’re going to be in the New York City area on Sept 15, 2015, you should absolutely check out PLUS NIGHT OUT.  Presented by Mrs. “Curvysta” herself, Jovanna Reyes, this is sure to be a great night of plus size fashion! I’ve been for the past two years and it’s been a great experience.  Jovanna is a big name in the plus size fashion industry and very well respected.  She’s been a great friend and a huge supporter of everything that I have done and it’s always an honor to go and support her and her event.  Come out and meet some of the amazing models and see the awesome fashions.

Since I’m a photographer as well, you’ll find me hanging out in the photographers area with one of my good friends Doug Swaim of Never Forgotten Photography.  Check out some of Doug’s photos from PNO and while you’re at it, check out mine as well!     We will have Jovanna on the show in Sept to talk about what we can expect from PNO 2015 so stay tuned! To make sure you don’t miss a thing, be sure to join our mailing list as well.

Blogging with The Curvy CEO!

Blogging with The Curvy CEO!

curvy ceo

“Curvy CEO” is a lawyer and lobbyist in Washington, DC.  She spends her days pounding the pavement on Capitol Hill – attending congressional hearings, hosting policy briefings, and orchestrating meetings to represent client interests before Congress and the White House. Despite having such a “serious” job, her undying love of all things style, fashion, and beauty caused me to constantly search for “the perfect” blazer, handbag, dress, or statement neckpiece. Soon, she became the “go to” person among her friends and colleagues for fashion advice. It was the never-ending quest to find corporate, but cute plus-size attire that guided her to launch CurvyCEO.com.

Tonia Renee Minor is the founder and CEO of Virginia Full Figured Fashion Week (VF3W). Ms. Minor-White along with her business partner, April S. Minor-White, founded the company on June 24, 2012 after attending several fashion weeks and noticing that there was a lack of women over size 6 on the runway. Ms. Minor-White, a full figured woman herself, desires to bring the full-figured fashion movement to Virginia. Since the company started, Ms. Minor-White and her team have accumulated 125 full figured models, 25 designers and boutiques, 30 hairstylists and make-up artists, and four photographers. The company also has a community outreach unit, which strives to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families. In addition to serving as the CEO of Virginia Full Figured Fashion Week (VF3W), Ms. Minor-White is a full-time educator who works with special needs high school students in the Newport News Public School system.
